Recipe type: Condiment, Syrup
Yield: 1 cup
What You Need
  • ½ Cup Blood Orange Juice (About 4-6 Oranges)
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Filtered Water
  • ½ t Orange Blossom (or Orange Flower) Water - optional
How You Make It
  1. Heat the water and sugar gently on the stove until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  2. Add the orange juice and bring to a rolling boil.
  3. Boil for 10 minutes, until liquid reduces slightly.
  4. Cool, and then strain* and add the orange flower water, if using.
  5. Store in a glass bottle/jar in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Notes
*There is no need to strain the cooled syrup - I personally like the pulp, but if you are using this for cocktails, you may want a smoother syrup, so the cocktails are free of any 'bits'.
