Watermelon is such a wonderful fruit. A cup of diced watermelon has under 50 calories. It’s loaded with vitamins A B6 and C, lycopene and calcium. It also contains an amino acid (I-citrulline) which is thought to help relieve muscle soreness. Comprised of over 90% water, it’s a great drink to help keep you hydrated. It is very versatile and can be added to drinks, salads, salsas – you name it!
Watermelon has such a mild flavor too, making it a great food for adding other natural flavors to. In this refreshing slushy, I’ve added raspberries – although you could easily add blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, and if you are lucky enough to get them, my favorite – blackcurrants. You could also add some fresh herbs – maybe some mint or some basil.
- ½ Medium Watermelon
- ¾ cup fresh raspberries
- 1 cup ice
- Scant optional squeeze honey
